5 AprArrive at Nayalap
6 AprIntroduction to ceramics.
Pinching: You will learn this ancient technique in pottery. Participants will make their own hand-built pots and learn to add texture to them.
7 AprCoiling: You will learn this interesting technique to make coiled trinket trays, pots, and bowls.
8 AprTile work: You will be taught bas-relief work. You can take inspiration from nature and do a free-hand design or an abstract.

Inclusions

  • Stay at Nayalap on a double sharing/ triple sharing basis based on choice for 4 nights.
  • Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner for 4 nights.
  • Each participant will be provided with terracotta clay, tool kits, rags, aprons, bowls for water, and board/cloth to make their pieces on.
  • All pieces will be fired when completely dry and can be collected from Wildfern Pottery Studio, Noida, or Dunzoed/ couriered to your address.

  • With least changes: Drive to Nayalap (10hrs)
  • Most Ecofriendly: Take the Ranikhet Express to Kathgodam (overnight) and then the bus from Haldwani to Shitlakhet (6hrs).

From Dehradun

  • Quickest: Take a flight to Pantnagar (35min) and a cab can be booked for you from there(5hrs).
  • With least changes: Drive to Nayalap (10hrs)
  • Most Ecofriendly: Take the Dehradun Kathgodam Express to Kathgodam (overnight) and then the bus from Haldwani to Shitlakhet (6hrs)

From Chennai

  • Quickest: Take a flight to Pantnagar (10h 45min) and a cab can be booked for you from there(5hrs).
  • With least changes: Take the flight to Delhi and then a cab can be booked for you to Nayalap (10hrs)
  • Most Ecofriendly: Take the train from Chennai to New Delhi (overnight) and then the Ranikhet Express to Kathgodam (overnight) and then the bus from Haldwani to Shitlakhet (6hrs)

Your Mentor

An independent artist and potter, Manisha Sah has worked with and learned from Rameshwar Broota, Dr. Alka Pande, Rachna Parasher, and Alberto Bustos.

Skilled in glazing and Anagama, she has been conducting pottery workshops and designing her own pieces for over 7 years. She is also a practicing contemporary artist for over 20 years.
